Volunteers are the backbone of any therapeutic riding/hippotherapy program. They perform vital functions that include:
- leading or sidewalking during sessions
- tacking up the horses/tack changes
- exercise, grooming and other horse care
- office management activities
- coordination of other volunteers
- public relations (get the word out to clients, sponsors and other volunteers)
Well trained volunteers help fulfill the most important part of hippotherapy/therapeutic riding sessions: they help to make it safe. They also are essential in making sessions more effective and enjoyable!
